Geraldo De Marco
Geraldo De Marco (left) joined the Auxillary Fire Service in 1941. The service was volantary and gave assistance to the local fire service, In this case, Hove fire service.
Under the National Fire Service (Emergency Provisions) Act 1941, the Home Office set about creating a national service and until 1947 administered and controlled a national force of 350 000 men and women. Geraldo was transferred into the NFS as a full time fireman and served in that role until the middle of 1946 when he was released.
