Sometimes when clicking on a link, the wrong zoom level is used, or worse, the wrong place is displayed. A second click will usually correct this.
Use the map controls to change from a satellite image to a map, as you can see, Google mapping of italy is now of great detail.
In map mode, when the zoom level is high. some place names seem to disappear.
If you change the Area Map to a satellite image, you can see the extent of high resolution coverage. Because of this, some obvious candidates for inclusion in the above list are missing. Hopefully Goggle will extend their coverage soon.
I also intend adding an image gallery from Google Earth showing the topography of the region
